On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy (VDNH) in Moscow, five historical pavilions will re-open there after restoration.

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin wrote on his website that it is about the pavilions "Agriculture", "Metallurgy", "Chemistry", "Computing and Informatics" and "Standards". In the latter, which in Soviet times was called "Moldovan Soviet Socialist Republic", a Moldovan Exhibition Center will open.

"Capital repairing of facades and restoring of historical columns and moldings was conducted there", Sobyanin wrote.

The pavilion has the total area of 3 thousand square meters. It was built in 1954 and in Soviet period represented a thematic pavilion of Moldovan republic in the VDNH complex. In summer 2011, Moldova and Russia signed an intergovernmental agreement on creating of an exhibition and trade center "Moldova" in the pavilion.

Back then, Deputy Premier, Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar was saying that Russia gives the pavilion for rent to Moldova for 50 years with the possibility of extending this term to 50 more years at a symbolic rent pay of 1 Russian ruble.

According to him, the pavilion and the adjoining territory will be used by Moldova for organizing exhibitions and cultural events. Also, public catering enterprises will be opened there, first of all the restaurants of Moldovan cuisine.

"The cost of works will account US$20 million. Nevertheless, many economic agents of Moldova, which have business relations with Russia, demonstrated interest and are ready to allocate money for the pavilion", said Lazar back then, adding that the project will be implemented within a public-private partnership.
