​FISHING IN MOLDOVA TO BE PROHIBITED FROM APRIL 15 TO JUNE 15

The Environmental Agency introduces ban on sport and recreational fishing in natural fishery waters of Moldova from April 15 through May 15.

According to the Agency’s order, in the Dniester River the ban applies to the fishing on the section from the village of Naslavcea to the town of Camenca; in the Dubasari water reservoir and downstream to the village of Palanca (28km) in Turunciuc arm.

At the same time, fishing is also prohibited in the Cahul lake, in the Ciorna, Raut, Ichel, Bic and Botna rivers, and many other little rivers.

In addition, from April 11 to June 9, one won’t be allowed to fish in the Prut River, i.e. from its intersection of the northern Moldovan-Ukrainian border to the village of Tetcani; in the Costesti-Stinca water reservoir down to the village of Giurgiulesti.

The Agency pays particular attention to the fact that fishing is prohibited throughout the year in the areas close to the bridges over the Dniester and Prut rivers – 100 meters upstream and downstream; 500 meters on both sides of the tributaries and in a number of other places, including territorial waters of Moldova in the Danube River.

The Inspectorate for Environmental Protection will control the prohibition period observance. The violators will face a penalty both administrative and criminal, depending on the severity. The fines vary from 300 to 600 lei for individuals.
