WB TO PROVIDE TO MOLDOVA 61 MILLION EUROS FOR CONNECTING ELECTRIC NETWORKS WITH ROMANIA

Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Vadim Brinzan met with World Bank Country Manager for Moldova Anna Akhalkatsi to discuss the signing of an agreement for providing 61 million euros for uniting the Moldovan and Romanian electricity grids.

According to the ministry, the document implies that money will go to extension of the power station in Vulcanesti, modernization of the station in Chisinau and building of an above-ground power line of 400 kW.

The minister said that this support is highly important for Moldova, as the implementation of this project will allow raising the efficiency of the system of electricity transmission and thus, a high quality of services will be ensured for citizens.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the implementation of the Program for restructuring the centralized heating system (SACET). They exchanged opinions on further steps on implementing the action plan on optimizing the SACET regulation and ways of rehabilitating the state institutions’ connection to the centralized heating.

WB representatives confirmed readiness to support the development of projects, especially in energy sector, in order that Moldovan citizens to have access to modern and quality services.
