ANRE TO REVISE ELECTRICITY TARIFFS THIS WEEK

13 august, 2019

The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) will hold on Friday a public sitting where the new electricity tariffs will be considered and approved.

It is about tariffs on electricity distribution and delivery to consumers by enterprises RED Union Fenosa and Gas Natural Fenosa Furnizare Energie, as well as RED Nord and Furnizarea Energiei Electrice Nord Nord.

In particular, the Gas Natural Fenosa Furnizare Energie demanded raising of electricity tariff for population to 1.94 lei per 1 KWh from 1.79 lei, while the Furnizarea Energiei Electrice Nord Nord – to 2.34 lei from 1.91 lei. They explained this by the need of covering the purchase prices on electricity, the growth of production costs.

One of agency directors, ex-Minister of Economy Octavian Calmic recognized the need of correcting tariffs, explaining that this is necessary for covering the growth of prices on the imported electricity, the production costs, the negative financial deviations, accumulated during the current year and for ensuring the stability of supplies and payments in the sector.

However, the ANRE draft decision implies net tariffs that are lower than those demanded by suppliers – 1.85 lei and 2.19 lei, respectively.

The last time the electricity tariffs were revised on June 15, 2018, when they were lowered by 10% on average.
