PRIME MINISTER URGES TO FULFILL ALL CONDITIONS FOR GETTING EU FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
The need of fulfilling additional conditions put by the EU for providing macro-financial assistance to Moldova, appeared as a result of negotiations with European institutions, said Prime Minister Maia Sandu at the Wednesday’s sitting of the Governmental Commission for European integration, dedicated to the dialog in the EU-Moldova Association Agreement and the promised macro-financial assistance.
Minister of Finance Natalia Gavrilita informed the meeting participants that there are 28 conditions for getting this assistance and to fulfill these it is necessary to take a number of actions.
In this connection, the premier demanded an active and serious participation from responsible agencies in implementing the required measures before end-September.
“It is important to do our best to benefit from the EU’s openness for unblocking the two tranches of macro-financial assistance till the end of the year. We must achieve considerable success at the level of all institutions”, Maia Sandu said.
Infotag’s dossier: Among the conditions, set by the EU, there are: ensuring democratic standards in the country, conducting of free and open local elections, de-monopolization of the media market, observing of human rights and law-governed state, investigation of the bank fraud, identification of corruption schemes, de-politicization of the judiciary, as well as improvement of tax legislation.
The EU announced about the intention to provide to Moldova macro-financial assistance worth 100 million euros in 2017. However, after that the decision was frozen due to authorities’ antidemocratic actions and the stagnation of reforms in many fields, till Moldova reaches concrete achievements for improving the state of things. After coming of PSRM-ACUM in power in June, the EU declared about the possible resumption of assistance already in autumn, but only in conditions of fulfilling a whole range of conditions.
