MOLDOVA CLIMBS TWO POSITIONS IN GLOBAL COMPETITIVENESS RATING

Moldova climbed two positions in the Global Competitiveness Index, published by the World Economic Forum (Davos, Switzerland) on Wednesday, ranking the 86th of 140 countries.

According to the rating website, the general quality of Moldova’s competitiveness is assessed at 56.7 points (on 100-point scale).

The rating is headed by Singapore, which relegated the USA to the second place this year. The Top 5 in the world competition also includes Hong Kong, the Netherlands and Switzerland. The list is closed by Chad and Yemen.

Ukraine ranked the 85th, Romania – the 51st, Russia – the 41st.

The Global Competitiveness Index is compiled annually since 1979. It is calculated on the basis of 12 indicators: Institutions; Appropriate infrastructure; Stable macroeconomic framework; Good health and primary education; Higher education and training; Efficient goods markets; Efficient labor markets; Developed financial markets; Ability to harness existing technology; Market size—both domestic and international; Production of new and different goods using the most sophisticated production processes; Innovation.
