MOLDOVAN MINISTER AND CHINESE AMBASSADOR DISCUSS AGREEMENT ON FREE TRADE ZONE

Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Anatol Usatii met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China Zhang Yinghong on Tuesday. The sides discussed the next stage of negotiations on signing a bilateral agreement on free trade.

According to the ministry, interlocutors exchanged opinions and the dynamic of the Moldova-China relations in such strategic fields as road infrastructure, the railroad sector, the possible investment projects and informational technologies.

The ambassador stressed the need of concluding negotiations and signing the agreement in the nearest time, as well expressed openness for organizing the next sitting of the Moldova-China Inter-Governmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation which will take place in Beijing.

Usatii highly appreciated the trade and economic relations with China, which is the world's largest exporter and importer of goods and one of Moldova's main trade partners, as well as he called on Chinese companies to pay attention to Moldovan free economic zones, industrial parks, including the IT park.

There are 86 companies with Chinese capital in Moldova. The main fields of interest for Chinese investors are agriculture, infrastructure, pharmacy and biomedicine, informational technologies, artificial intelligence, production of industrial equipment, as well as tourism.
