MOLDOVA WAS CHOSEN AS PRIORITY COUNTRY FOR ASSISTANCE – FAO DIRECTOR
Prime Minister Ion Chicu met with Food and Agriculture Organization Director General Qu Dongyu on Thursday, who said that Moldova was chosen as a priority country for granting assistance.
According to the Government, the interlocutors exchanged opinions on perspectives of Moldova’s cooperation with the FAO. Chicu has highly appreciated the Organization’s assistance, provided for mitigating the consequences of drought and floods, as well as for developing rural areas and the agricultural sector.
He expressed interest in cooperation for launching new projects on consolidating agricultural lands and implementing modern technologies in agriculture, as well as on reducing the volumes of food waste and the implementation of the Agenda for Sustainable Development 2030.
In his turn, Qu Dongyu said that the FAO will continue supporting Moldova for raising competitiveness of its agro-industrial sector and for developing highly productive agriculture and sustainable management of its natural resources.
