POLAND AMBASSADOR CALLS ON MOLDOVAN COMPANIES TO PROMOTE GOODS TO POLISH MARKET

27 december, 2019

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland to Moldova Bartolomiej Zdaniuk told about high demand for Moldovan wines in his country’s market and called on Moldovan producers to launch a campaign on promoting their goods in Poland.

“Over 15% of bottled wines from Moldova go to Poland. On the other hand, there is always place for more. There are cultural differences between our countries. Most Poles still prefer strong alcoholic beverages or beer. Thus, in order to raise the share of Moldovan exports to Poland, a wide campaign on promoting Moldovan goщds on our market”, the diplomat said.

Speaking about other Moldovan goods, Bartolomiej Zdaniuk stressed that first of all it is necessary to understand the way of thinking of European markets.

“The product should be not only beautiful, tasty and quality, but also to be nicely packed, to be stored and transported in accordance with certain requirements. In this direction Moldova has to do a great work. It needs cold storages, driers, warehouses and others, as it cannot extend its presence in EU markets, if it does not make efforts in these fields”, he said.

According to him, to undertake these efforts, the Moldovan system should be transparent and predictable.

“If people do not trust the system, if they fear corruption, they will not be investing in cold storages, driers, warehouses, respectively they will not be competitive on EU markets. This is a vicious circle. However, I want to note that once a certain company comes to the EU market, it becomes a stable and reliable partner. The EU does not close the market overnight due to certain doubtful reasons”, the ambassador said.

According to him, the EU-Moldova Association Agreement clearly establishes the roadmap and if Moldova wants to have reliable partners and guaranteed incomes for many years, these rules should be observed.

“If someone disagrees with these rules, it will be very difficult for Moldova to achieve success”, Zdaniuk concluded.
