STATE ROAD ADMINISTRATION AND TURKISH COMPANY SIGN CONTRACT ON REPAIRING ROADS IN SOUTHERN MOLDOVA

The Turkish company OZKA Insaat will repair two sections of the R34 Hincesti-Leova-Cahul-Giurgiulesti road with the total length of 83 km. A corresponding contract on conducting works was signed by the State Road Administration and the Turkish company on Friday.

The total cost of rehabilitation and modernization of two sections (42.2 km + 40.8 km) is estimated at 56.5 million euros, while the duration of works is 3 years. The project includes groundwork, transport system rehabilitation, modernization and reconstruction of crossroads and the drainage system.

The Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure maintains that the implementation of this project has a high importance for the Moldova’s economic development, as this stimulates investments, reduces costs on servicing the vehicles and simplifies the citizens’ movement, as well as access to the social infrastructure.

Acting Director of the State Road Administration Andrei Cuculescu said that the proposals, which came from 17 companies from Turkey, Russia, Bulgaria, China, Belarus, Ukraine and Georgia, were published on the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development public procurement portal.
