AUTHORITIES DO NOT PROPOSE EFFICIENT SOLUTIONS FOR SUPPORTING BUSINESSES – DA DEPUTY CHAIRMAN

30 march, 2020

The Moldovan authorities, including President Igor Dodon, are unable to propose any efficient and reasonable solutions for material support to businesses and employees, which were sent on forced leave due to the coronavirus pandemic, maintains Deputy Chairman of the “Demnitate si Adevar” [DA, “Dignity and Justice”] Platform party, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Alexandru Slusari.

On Facebook, he wrote that the document, developed by the Government which may be approved by the Commission for the State of Emergency bypassing the Parliament, is the most unsuccessful and unreal variant of support that reveals the state’s reluctance to financially participate in resolving problems faced by employees and workers.

According to him, the Government proposes to first pay the salaries, and only after that to hope that the state may reimburse a part of the paid taxes.

“A question appears: where should they take money from? The greatest current problem of the Moldovan businesses is the shortage of funds. The best solution would be to conduct payments directly to each worker, forced to go on technical leave, in the form of special compensation worth 50% of salary. This should be done with condition that employers are paying one more third of the salary. Such an approach will be fair to all spheres of economy, while the cost of such a measure will be of 3.5-4 billion lei”, Slusari said, reminding that the DA Platform recently proposed such measures.

He also lamented that the authorities completely forgot about small traders.

“They suffered much after the markets closed. Over 9 thousand workers still need urgent state assistance. From our point of view, it would be wise to pay to them an allowance worth 50% of the average economy salary, which would cost to the budget up to 40 million lei”, Slusari wrote.
