GERMAN EXPERTS TO HELP MOLDOVA WORK OUT CONCEPT OF PUBLIC GOVERNANCE REFORM

Experts from the German Economic Team (GET) will help the Moldovan Government to work out a Concept of reforming the central and local public governance “with an account of best European practices”. Such agreement was reached on Tuesday during the online dialog Moldovan Prime Minister Ion Chicu held with a team of German experts and the Minister of Finance of one of the country’s Lands.

“An effective differentiation of competences and the definition of an optimum territorial-administrative structure are the reform’s basic elements. By means of it we can consolidate the financial autonomy of local self-governance and create conditions for the development of regions. A state cannot be powerful with weak territories”, said Prime Minister Ion Chicu.

The interlocutors discussed the problems and risks related to the public governance reform and the experience of conducting analogous reforms in the Baltic States, Slovakia and Ukraine.
