MOLDOVAN FIXED TELEPHONY MARKET FELL 17.6%

Year by year, fixed telephony services are becoming less and less popular in Moldova. This is proved by the regulator’s data for the first quarter of 2020.

The voice traffic volume accounted to291.9 million minutes, decreasing by 11.8% compared with January-March 2019. Total sales decreased by 17.6% to 97.1 million lei, and the number of subscribers to 1.06 million. As a result, the penetration level of fixed telephony services went down to 39.6%.

The decrease in voice traffic in fixed telephony is caused by a decrease in negotiations. Traffic in international networks decreased by 20.2% and in mobile networks by 15.3%. The average monthly voice traffic per subscriber (MoU) decreased by 8.9% to 144.4 minutes.

The average monthly revenue per user (ARPU) decreased by 14.7% to 30.4 lei. For Moldtelecom it was 32.1 lei, and for 23 alternative suppliers it was 15.5 lei. The market share of Moldtelecom fixed telephony was 94.7%, depending on revenue.
