EU, AUSTRIA AND FRANCE HELP BUILD SEWAGE SYSTEM IN SOUTHERN MOLDOVAN TOWN

Thanks to the assistance being rendered by the European Union in collaboration with Austria and France, an up-to-date wastewater treatment plant will be built in Cantemir.

In the course of visiting the southern Moldovan town today, Ambassador Peter Michalko, the Head of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Moldova said that running-water supply plays a central role in a sustainable development of any populated area, meaning progress in all spheres of life - economic, social, ecological.

"The European Union is urging Moldova to move in the direction of an efficient management of water resources. We are here together with partners from European Union member countries to support this Moldova's movement forward", said the European diplomat.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Lise Pascal Le Deunff, said that the construction of such plant in Cantemir is a good example of the European Union's concrete and important contribution to the development of Moldova, and that this project has already created over 70 jobs in the administrative center of the Cantemir Raion.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria to Moldova Christine Freilinger said that thanks to the EU-provided funding of 6 million euros and to the 2.7-million-euro support by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), five thousand Cantemir citizens will soon feel the advantages of having a wastewater treatment plant.
