TERMOELECTRICA ARRANGES PRODUCTION OF HEAT CARRIER FROM RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCE

07 july, 2020

Termoelectrica company launches a project for the production of biomass heat energy at heating plants in the suburbs of Chisinau. The project won the competition for innovation and technology transfer at the municipal heat supply company.

The project will be implemented jointly with the Institute of Genetics, Physiology and Plant Protection (IGFP) and Terravesta Ltd (Great Britain) by the use of the miscanthus plant in the process of generating heat for heating the capital.

It provides for the installation of a heat generator with nominal power of 120-130 kW, powered by fuel made from miscanthus. The project requires investments of about 1.7 million lei.

According to the calculations of Termoelectrica, new environmental technologies will allow the company in the coming years to provide heat for 5,500 apartments, 110 houses, 40 enterprises, 12 kindergartens, 25 educational and eight medical institutions.

Miscanthus is a perennial energy plant widely used as bio-fuel for the production of thermal energy in several European countries. Harvest from a single crop can be collected for 30 years in the amount of up to 30 tons per hectare.
