STATISTICS CALCULATE JUNE DEFLATION IN MOLDOVA

Prices in Moldova in June decreased on average by 0.01% against May inflation of 0.22%. The cumulative inflation rate since the beginning of the year reached 1.07%, and the annual inflation rate - 4.25%.

According to data of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), deflation was facilitated by a seasonal decline in food prices, which fell by 0.41% over the month. Most of all, prices fell for peaches and apricots - 42.7%, strawberries and raspberries - 34.5%, squashes - 24%, tomatoes - 22.3%, cucumbers - 20.8%, potatoes - 19.4%.

At the same time, such a popular products as carrots rose in price by 14.6%, eggs - by 9.9%, beets - by 8%, cereals - by 6.9%, fish - by 1.5%.

Among them, a rise in price by 1.4-3.7% of summer shoes, dresses and T-shirts, as well as hats can be noted, that is somewhat mitigated by the cost reduction of men's winter jackets - by 1.6%, household gas in cylinders - by 1.1%, coal - by 1%.

Among the services, which in general have risen in price by 0.27%, most of all the prices have increased for air transport services - 11.1%, tourist trips abroad - 10.1%, as well as funeral services - 1.7%. At the same time, railway services became cheaper by 1.3%.

In June 2019, there was also deflation in Moldova - 0.2%, and annual inflation consisted in 7.5%. In 2020, the National Bank expects a consumer price index in the range of 3.5%.
