MOLDOVA TAKES 79th PLACE IN THE GLOBAL RATING OF ELECTRONIC GOVERNMENT DEVELOPMENT

14 july, 2020

Moldova took 79th place in the UN ranking on readiness for working of e-government among 193 countries of the world. In the previous ranking of 2018, it took 69th place.

The United Nations global e-government development rating calculates the e-Government Development Index (EGDI), which is a composite indicator that measures the willingness and ability of the government to use information and communication technologies to provide services to the public. It is calculated on the basis of three components: the development of electronic services with Open System Interconnection (OSI), the development of human capital with Human Computer Interaction (HCI) and the telecommunications infrastructure with Technology Infrastructure Initiative (TII).

With an indicator of 0.6881 out of 1 (0.659 in 2018), Moldova belongs to the group of countries with a high e-government development index. At the same time, the republic's OSI is 0.7529 (0.7708), HCI is 0.7432 (0.7274), and TII is 0.5683 (0.4787).

The authors of the study recommend Moldova to maintain a high level of development of electronic services through investment – both, in human capital and in the development of infrastructure.

In the ranking, Moldova is located between South African Republic and Andorra. In the top of the list are Denmark, South Korea and Estonia. Complete the list - Somalia, Eritrea and South Sudan.

Russia is at 36th place, Romania - at 55th, Ukraine at 69th.
