FEDERATION OF FARMERS THREATS AUTHORITIES WITH PROTESTS

30 july, 2020

The National Federation of Farmers considers the government's actions to support agricultural producers insufficient. It promises "in case of failure to take effective measures to overcome the crisis, call on local organizations to organize a protest."

Such a statement was made by the Federation Council, according to which farmers affected by the drought “simply cannot afford to spend money on continuing the production process: they do not have the means to pay wages to workers.”

In the current conditions, the Federation requires the government and parliament to declare force majeure in agriculture for those affected by drought; exempt them from paying taxes, fees and payments to the social fund from April 1, 2020 to September 1, 2021; subsidize the purchase of seeds and fertilizers by 75%.
