BANKS' PROFITS 41% UP IN JUNE COMPARED WITH MAY

Moldova's 11 banks earned 54.3 million lei of net profit in June, which is 41.9% more than in May, the National Bank (NBM) has announced.

Out of the 11 banks, nine reported profit and two reported losses. Four banks showed lower positive financial results in June than in May.

Mobiasbanca - OTP Group earned the largest profit in June - 58.4 million lei (+ 129.4%). Comertbank was the first in terms of the relative increase of June profit (+ 228.4% or +1.1 million lei).

The dynamics of changes in the return on assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE) in the system as a whole in June compared to May is negative - minus 0.14 p.p. and minus 0.80 p.p., respectively.

Moldova Agroindbankreported the highest ROA of 2.1% (minus 0.24 p.p. per month)in June, as well as the highest ROE of 12.56% (minus 1.46 p.p.).

Victoriabankreported the lowest ROA - 0.57% and the lowest ROE - 3.35% (minus 0.08 p.p.). (For a more detailed analysis of banks' activities, see the July-August issue of the Banking & Finance Profit magazine).
