MOLDOVAN FOREIGN TRADE TURNOVER DECLINES BY BEGINNING OF AUGUST BY ALMOST 13%

Moldova exported goods worth US $ 1.379 billion in January-July, which is by 12.8% less than at the same period of 2019. Imports also decreased by 12.7% - to US $ 2.889 billion.

As the Bureau of Statistics (NBS) informed, 64.8% (+1.5 percentage points) of supplies from abroad fell on the EU, and 16% (+1.3 percentage points) - on the CIS.

In the structure of exports, food and livestock were in the lead - 25.4%, machinery and equipment for transport - 21.8%, and industrial products - 19.8%. The main consumers of Moldovan products were Romania - for US $ 357 million (-20.4%), Russia - for US $ 137.4 million (+ 1.4%) and Italy - for US $ 124.2 million (-2.7%).

Most of the goods came to Moldova from Romania and Russia - for US $ 348.7 million and US $ 337.6 million respectively.

The trade deficit amounted to US $ 1.5 billion. It decreased by 12.5%. The coverage of imports by exports in January-July amounted to 47.7%.
