CAHUL TO BECOME FIRST STARTUP CITY IN SOUTH OF MOLDOVA

In the framework of EU4Moldova: StartUp City project will establish a regional center of excellence EU4Innovation in Cahul. The grant agreement between Moldova and Sweden provides for the allocation of investments of 6.8 million euros in the region over four years.

The funds will be used to strengthen the digital economy, train local IT specialists, and develop business.

In the course of the project, 11.5 thousand students from Cahul and more than 50 thousand students all over the country will study the subjects of the future, 500 teachers will improve their digital skills. About 300 students from universities and colleges will take courses in IT sphere.

“Sweden actively supports the development of the IT sector in Moldova. Through this initiative, together with the EU Delegation, we will continue to support digital transformation and innovation in the country. With StartUp City Cahul, we are supporting rural development. We will consolidate employment opportunities and provide opportunities for young people to prove themselves in science, technology and engineering, so that they can choose a future career in IT,” said the Ambassador of Sweden to Moldova Anna Lieberg.
