MOLDOVA COULD RECEIVE 23 MILLION EURO FOR SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE DEVELOPMENT

The Parliamentary Commission on Foreign Policy and European Integration approved on Wednesday a report on the draft law on ratification of the Funding Agreement between RM and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) on the project "Increasing the Capacity for Rural Transformation (IFAD VIII)." According to the press service of the Parliament, the document provides for the implementation of the project with funding from IFAD sources in the amount of 18.9 million euros, as a long-term loan, and US $ 5.5 million as a grant, through the Adaptation Fund, for a period of six years.

The agreement was signed on June 26, 2020 in Chisinau by the Minister of Agriculture, and on July 30, 2020 in Rome by the chairman of IFAD.

The Commission approved a draft law on ratification of the amendment to the Funding Agreement between Moldova and the International Development Association (IDA) on the "Improving Local Roads" project. The amendment to the agreement, worth about US $ 80 million, is aimed at ensuring the implementation of the rehabilitation project and upgrading about 150 km of local roads. The bill is to be approved by the parliament.
