CHINESE EXPERIENCE OF RURAL POVERTY OVERCOMING DESERVES OTHER COUNTRIES’ ATTENTION AND USAGE – MOLDOVAN AMBASSADOR DUMITRU BRAGHIS

19 octomber, 2020

The history of poverty combating in China deserves the world’s attention to the real results achieved in that country, whose best experience should be borrowed by other nations, the Republic of Moldova’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the People’s Republic of China, Dumitru Braghis, stated to Chinese journalists.

Together with other foreign diplomats accredited in the People’s Republic of China, Dumitru Braghis participated in an international symposium called “Poverty Liquidation, and Political Parties’ Responsible Approach to This”. Its delegates visited the village of Czisi of the Pangsi settlement of the Fuding city in the Fujian Province.

The Moldovan Ambassador said that 30 years ago he had visited China, when he had received his first impression about Chinese rural localities then.

“Having visited the Czisi village now, I saw the colossal changes that have taken place in Chinese rural areas. Over a short period of time, China has got rid of poverty. The history of the Chinese struggle against poverty deserves scrutiny for the purpose of implementing this experience by other countries”, said Dumitru Braghis.

Civil Coalition for Free and Fair Elections calls on CEC to ensure video surveillance AT polling stations

Chisinau. Civil Coalition for Free and Fair Elections has called on the Central Election Commission to ensure functionality of video surveillance systems at polling stations. The Coalition members point out that “this year, the number of national and international observers is less than in previous elections”.

“Thus, there were 3.096 national and 562 international observers during the 2016 presidential elections. The parliamentary elections of 2019 were observed by 3.389 national and 776 international observers. And for the upcoming presidential elections, the CEC accredited 1.070 national observers from public associations (32% of the total number in 2019), and 139 international observers (17% of the total number in 2019)”, the message reads.

The Coalition also calls on the CEC to urgently amend the regulations in order to “ensure the possibility of video recording not only before the opening of the polling stations and votes counting, but also during the voting process”.
