“WE WILL CONTINUE OUR WEIGHTED COURSE” – PREMIER CHICU

13 november, 2020

The incumbent Moldovan Government will continue its weighted course, “so nobody will be able to rock our boat”, Prime Minister Ion Chicu stated during the presentation of his Government’s first annual Report.

Chicu stressed that the Government remains adherent to the principle of a weighted external policy.

“We resist to the pressure being put on us day and night from the left and from the right. We don’t wish to wage wars together with somebody against somebody else, though we can see constant attempts to rock our boat. We will be maintaining good relations with all – with the European Union and with the East”, stated the Premier.

He said that relations with development partners are particularly important, and first and foremost – with international financial institutions such as e.g. the International Monetary Fund.

In his words, the relationship with the IMF is among top priorities because “it gives a serious plus at ensuring our macro-economic stability. Moldova is continuing cooperation with investment institutions – the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Investment Bank (EIB), the World Bank and other, including Eastern ones, in order to attract financial means for infrastructure development”.

Chicu believes that the COVID-19 pandemic will not be defeated in 2021, either. Therefore, expenditures for healthcare (without an account of salaries to medics) will be increased by 830 million lei. And with an account of the salaries, the growth will be by 2.7 billion lei against 2020, which has already become a record-breaking year in terms of healthcare expenditures in the Republic of Moldova’s history.
