MOLDAVSKAYA GRES INCREASED ELECTRICITY PRODUCTION BY 11% IN FIRST QUARTER

02 june, 2021

One of the largest Transnistrian enterprises, Moldavskaya GRES (MRES), produced 1.12 billion kWh of electricity in the first quarter of 2021, which is 11% more than in the same period in 2020. The installed capacity utilization ratio increased from 18.32% to 20.61%.

As Infotag reports, citing the indicators released by the state district power station, "the increase in generation is associated with an increase in electricity supplies to the domestic market, including due to the growth of its consumption by the Moldavian Metallurgical Plant, as well as exports to Moldova".

The supply of heat energy increased by 16%, to 46.5 thousand Gcal, which is due to a decrease in the average level of the outside air temperature.

As in the previous year, gas was absolutely dominant in the fuel balance of MGRES - 99.9%, while the share of coal was 0%, and fuel oil - 0.1%.

Infotag's dossier: MGRES is one of the largest power plants in Eastern Europe. It was commissioned in 1964. It has 12 power units with a total installed capacity of 2,520 MW, of which only three or four are in operation. The station is owned by the Russian group Inter RAO. GRES is the main supplier of electricity to Moldova, which produces only a quarter of the energy consumed. According to the new contract, from April 1, the station supplies it to the power companies of the Republic of Moldova at $ 53.5 per 1 MWh.
