- "Actions by the former leader of the Moldovan Centrist Union (UCM), Mihai Petrache, due to whom a large number of UCM members included in the election list announced their withdrawal from the party, are aimed at destroying the formation," UCM leader Vasile Tarlev has said. Tarlev was elected as UCM chairman in September 2009 but has not been registered with the Justice Ministry as leader of the party.

- Representatives of the Avicola Nord poultry factory consider that the only way to save the factory from bankruptcy is to reinstate their former Director Gheorghe Birladeanu on his post. On Thursday, at a news conference more than 50 workers of the factory said that after the dismissal of their former Director the output dropped by 50% because of the inadequate feeding of birds.

- More than 70 workers of the Avicola Nord enterprise from Falesti demand to reinstate their Director General Gheorghe Birladeanu and 10 members of the administration in office. On Monday, a representative delegation of the enterprise arrived specially to Chisinau, in order to tell about the situation at the poultry factory at a news conference in Infotag.

- The Democratic Party of Moldova may well become the second important-most force in the next Moldovan Parliament, presumes the just resigned Director of the Association for External Policy (APE), political scientist Andrei Popov, who is standing the 4th on the DP ticket for the July 29 early parliamentary elections. Popov told a news conference in Infotag today, the next Parliament will not have a dominating force, and that “centrist forces, like e.g. the Democratic Party, always find themselves in a more advantageous position at negotiations. I presume our opinion will be weightier at selecting candidates for essential state posts”.

- Mrs. Nadezhda Mocanu, the wife of Sergiu Mocanu, the leader of the Popular Action Movement and former Adviser-at-Large to President Vladimir Voronin, believes her husband may be released from custody “only by wonder”. He was arrested in Chisinau last April 8, i.e. on the following day after the memorable riots and pogroms in Chisinau.

- The Centrist Union of Moldova (CUM) has signed an Action Plan with Ukraine’s Party of Regions on setting up a free economic zone in the South of Moldova, CUM Chairman Vasile Tarlev said at a news conference on Thursday. He handed in the Golden Sign of the Union of Industrialists and Producers to Tarlev for his particular achievements in the development of economic relations between Moldova and Ukraine.

- A Moldovan-Russian theater project “Maria Callas, They Wanted to See Her!” after the play “Master-class” by Terence MacNelly will be presented on March 25-28 at the Organ Hall. Producer Serghei Puhliacov said at a news conference in Infotag on Thursday that for the first time the first performance of a full-fledged dramatic production will be presented in a concert hall and Russian Actress Tatiana Nastashevskaya will create the image of Miraculous Opera Singer Maria Callas.

- The youth organization of the Centrist Union of Moldova (CUM) maintains that the republic’s young generation is backing the CUM initiative on creating around Moldova a “belt of friendship” with neighbor states. CUM youth organization leader Dumitru Molceanu told a news conference in Infotag today that the Union had come to such conclusion after the international youth forum the CUM organized here on March 14. It was attended by 350 young people from the Russian Federation, Ukraine and Romania, along with the representatives of the youth organizations of various Moldovan political formations – the Ravnopraviye [Equal Rights] Socio-Political Movement, the People’s Republican Party (PRP), the United Gagauzia Movement, as well as representatives of the Transnistrian yout
