​IMF HELD SEMINAR FOR JOURNALISTS FROM EASTERN AND SOUTHEASTERN EUROPE

A group of journalists from Moldova participated in a seminar for the media from Eastern and Southeastern Europe countries in Vienna (Austria).

According to Infotag special correspondent, the seminar was organized by the International Monetary Fund in cooperation with the Joint Vienna Institute. Its main goal was to inform young journalists about IMF work and mandate, economic programs and technical assistance, by means of which the Fund provides assistance to different countries.

Within the seminar, three video-conferences were organized with participation of IMF European Department Deputy Directors James Gordon and Thanos Arvanitis, as well as IMF Resident Representatives from Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Within the seminar, practical trainings have also been organized with participation of Mathieu Robbins and Melanie Cheary – journalists from the Thomson Reuters Foundation. They told to stakeholders about the ethics in journalism, familiarized them with the main requirements to journalists, who are writing on financial topics, pointing at the importance of transmitting financial news with maximum accuracy.

Infotag’s dossier: The seminar was attended by 15 journalists from Moldova, Kosovo, Albania, Belarus, Ukraine, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
