TARIFFS ON MEDICAL SERVICES IN MOLDOVA GREW FOURFOLD

21 february, 2017

All medical services in Moldova went up in price by four times, wrote specialized medical portal www.e-sanatate.md on Monday.

According to the official information, prices on medical services in private healthcare institutions have not changed since 2011. New prices were approved by the Health Ministry and published in the Catalog of Unified Tariffs on Medical-Sanitary Services.

“All the types of services became several times more expensive: some twice, others – three-fold, five-fold or even more. This concerns all types of services, be it treating caries, ultrasonography or radiography. The cost of a bed-day also grew. Besides the fact that a day spent in hospital will cost more, it does not include medicines and catering”, says the Catalog.

If before a bed-day in a therapeutic department cost 144 lei, now it will cost 209 lei. A day in cardiologic department will cost 345 lei against 218, in surgery department – 345, while in cardiac surgery – 446 lei against 299. A day in emergency ward will cost 1 thousand lei against 533 before.

The electronic publication points at the fact that the National Anti-Corruption Center (NACC) has started the conducting of an expertise of the document on raising tariffs back at the draft development stage. The NACC expressed doubts about the correctness of calculating several tariffs, as a result of which the growth accounted for 400% on average. However, draft authors did not make any changes in the document.

The portal points at the fact that the list of services will remain almost unchanged. Most of them will not feel any changes in tariffs, provided in the basis of medical policy. However, those, who do not have medical insurance policy will be paying for services according to new tariffs.

“It is important to emphasize that there is no detailed analysis of reasons for price raising, There is no analysis about the sum of additional funds, necessary to the National Social Insurance Fund for covering expenditures”, the website maintains.
