ANRE LOWERS FUEL PRICES

The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) has lowered on Tuesday the price ceiling on gasoline by 0.49 lei (2.8%) per liter, while on diesel – by 0.54 lei (3.5%).

The maximum retail price on gasoline Premium-95 fell to 17.3 lei per liter, while on diesel – to 15.08 lei. These are the lowest prices in 2017. They will be valid for next two weeks – until April 4.

The prices were calculated on the basis of international petroleum exchanges’ quotes – Platts for gasoline and diesel, and Argus – for the LPG. Besides, operational costs, connected with importing operations were taken into account at calculation, including the transportation and insurance costs, as well as the excise tax on fuel, the VAT and a special trade mark-up, on the basis of revenues and profit of companies.

Market operators do not have the right to sell the fuel by retail at prices, higher than the maximum, established by the ANRE.

In case of exceeding the price ceiling, established by the ANRE, market participants risk to be penalized or even to be deprived of license.

Infotag’s dossier: The new methodology of forming fuel prices entered into force on June 1, 2016. Since then, ANRE recalculates these once per two weeks on the basis of petroleum price quotes at world exchanges.
