TAX SERVICE FINES EMPLOYER FOR PAYING SALARY IN ENVELOPE

The Moldovan Tax Service has for the first time fined an economic agent 50 thousand lei for paying salaries in envelopes.

According to the State Tax Service, this case was registered in April and only now the court issued a corresponding decision “for violation of the labor legislation and payment of salary outside the accounting”.

“In total, 116 such violations have been registered so far. As a result of the adopted measures, the recalculation was conducted, and employers were obliged to additionally pay to the budget a sum with total worth of 8.9 million lei, 2.2 million lei of which have already been received”, the Infotag interviewees said.

Tax inspectors started 4.9 thousand cases on taxpayers’ violations and applied sanctions worth 6.8 million lei, as well as issued 9.8 thousand entrepreneurial patents and extended 48.4 thousand patents.

These actions were conducted by the State Tax Service jointly with the State Labor Inspectorate, the Ministry of the Interior and the National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova. Their goal was to prevent the phenomenon of illegal work and issuing of salaries in envelopes.
