EBRD DELEGATION TO VISIT CHISINAU THIS WEEK

On Monday, a delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is arriving to Chisinau with a working visit for discussing with Moldovan authorities and business circles' representatives a new Bank's Strategy for the country.

During discussions, the sides plan to talk about the support by bank of the Moldovan economy. The EBRD delegation will also visit production capacities of foreign investors in the field of mechanical engineering, located in the Balti Free Economic Zone.

During the visit, a wide circle of interested sides, including representatives of country authorities' representatives, foreign investors, representatives of business associations, nongovernmental organizations, development partners and diplomats.

The visit is a part of preparing a new EBRD strategy for Moldova. The document, which should be published at the end of the year, bank's priorities will be stated for the period of 2017-2020. The key priorities within the new EBRD strategy for Moldova are: transformation of banking sector, energy security and energy efficiency, competitiveness raising at the expense of supporting viable firms, encouraging direct foreign investments and development of transport and municipal infrastructure.

The EBRD is Moldova's leading investor. The bank has invested over 1 billion euros in different sectors: infrastructure, energy sector, banking sector, industry, trade and agriculture.
