ANRE RAISES FUEL PRICES

10 january, 2018

The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) has raised on Tuesday the price ceiling on gasoline by 0.68 lei per liter, while on diesel – by 0.6 lei.

The new prices will be valid for next two weeks – until January 24. The maximum retail price on gasoline Premium-95 grew to 18.22 lei per liter, while on diesel – to 16.32 lei. These are the highest prices since 2016.

The prices were calculated on the basis of international petroleum exchanges’ quotes – Platts for gasoline and diesel, and Argus – for the LPG. Besides, operational costs, connected with importing operations were taken into account at calculation, including the transportation and insurance costs, as well as the excise tax on fuel, the VAT and a special trade mark-up, on the basis of revenues and profit of companies.

At calculation, the 8.8% growth of the 2018 excise taxes on gasoline (to 4961 from 4560 per ton) and the 8.6% growth of taxes on diesel (to 2092 from 1926 per ton) were taken into account.

Market operators do not have the right to sell the fuel by retail at prices, higher than the maximum, established by the ANRE.

In case of exceeding the price ceiling, established by the ANRE, market participants risk to be penalized or even to be deprived of license.

Infotag’s dossier: The new methodology of forming fuel prices entered into force on June 1, 2016. Since then, ANRE recalculates these given the petroleum price quotes at world exchanges.
