MOLDOVA TO BORROW US$20 MILLION FOR MODERNIZING PUBLIC SERVICES

The Moldovan Government approved on Thursday the ratification of the agreement on providing financing by the International Development Association (IDA) and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) for implementing the project "Public Service Modernization".

The explanatory note to the Government's decision says that the IDA will provide to Moldova US$15 million, while the IBRD - US$5 million. The agreement implies that the beneficiary of the credit should also make its contribution to the implementation of the project worth at least US$2.4 million.

The goal of the project is to merge several services into one, raising the access to public services in raions, as well as reducing the number of documents, necessary for providing public services. Besides, it implies the application of transparent and fair tariffs for public services.

According to preliminary assessment, the implementation of the project will contribute to reduction by 25% of the time, necessary for providing of services for 21 state agencies.

According to the agreement, the project should be implemented before June 30, 2023.
