EU TO PROVIDE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO 80 MOLDOVAN PUBLIC ORGANIZATIONS

Over 80 civil society organizations of Moldova, including from Transnistria, will benefit from technical assistance from the side of the EU. This is provided in the project “Support to Public Organization Development in Moldova”, financed by the EU.

Ambassador Peter Michalko, Head of the European Union Delegation to Moldova said at the Wednesday’s conference dedicated to the project launching that public organizations are representatives of the active part of society, thus they have to be provided support.

“The civil society plays a key role for developing democratic values in the country, as well as are an important force for reform promotion, raising the efficiency of public institution work and for simplifying the citizens’ access to public administration processes”, the diplomat said.

According to him, the EU-Moldova Association Agreement implies modernization, reform promotion and democratic values’ development, while the civil society is executing an important task – monitoring of the Agreement fulfillment.

The project is designed for three years and implies conducting of various seminars, trainings and working meetings for local public organizations. It is directed to strengthening institutional potential and raising skills of local organizations for extending their access to financing sources.
