03 may, 2018

50 best students from 10 higher educational institutions of Moldova were awarded with Encouraging Stipends. The awarding ceremony was organized by the Information Educational Center under the auspices of the Council of University Presidents with financial support of the Moldova Agroindbank (MAIB) and Orange Moldova.

Best license and Master students got stipends worth 12 thousand lei. Stipends were transferred to Avanti bank cards, issued to the winners by MAIB for free.

This year, the program "Encouraging Stipends" marks 22 years. Since its launching, over 5.5 thousand students participated in this contest, 1450 of whom received stipends. The awarding ceremony became an outstanding event in Moldova's student life.

This year, 215 students from 21 institutions participated in the contest. Students were competing in two stages. The first stage consisted of submitting documents that contain data about academic results and participation in extracurricular activities, after which the selected students underwent a written test.

Winners were selected by an independent expert commission made of academic society representatives.

Director of the Information Educational Center Angela Muset said that finalists demonstrated they deserve the name of Moldova's best students. "I congratulate the winners and thank the contest partners - Moldova Agroindbank and Orange Moldova, which provided considerable financial support for contest organizing", she said.

MAIB Chairman Sergiu Cebotari said that the MAIB joined the project in 2001, which became one of the most important social responsibility projects for the institution.

"The MAIB is supporting the young generation's aspirations, encouraging their development by means of various projects. Due to partnership with the program of encouraging stipends, the MAIB is making efforts for almost 20 years already to ensure continuity of this program and other projects in the field of education, understanding that the youth is our future", the banker said.

At the awarding ceremony, MAIB Deputy Chairman Oleg Paingu said that the bank efforts in this direction are also supported by means of opening the youth center MAIB Studio Avanti, where the young generation may deepen financial and banking knowledge, testing in practice the bank's new financial technologies and products.

Orange Moldova Director General Julien Ducarroz said that Orange Moldova jointed the program in 2004.

"This program is a part of a large Orange Moldova social responsibility strategy, directed to supporting the advanced experience and students' progress. Our goal is to invest in youth education, to create necessary skills for overcoming challenges in future. For being demanded on labor market tomorrow, one has to change today. This is why education is a very important aspect for successful life", Ducarroz said.
