FIRST TWO TRANCHES OF EU ASSISTANCE WILL ARRIVE BEFORE END-2018 - PAVEL FILIP

14 may, 2018

The first and the second tranches of EU macro-financial assistance to Moldova will arrive to the country this year, said Prime Minister Pavel Filip at the Friday's Parliament sitting, while presenting 2017 report on Government results.

According to him, some extraparliamentary parties [the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) and the "Demnitate si Adevar" Party] are trying to put obstacles to the EU assistance provision by means of distorting the situation in the country, as well as misinforming the society.

"Unfortunately, many people are glad when Moldova fails to move faster in this issue (the providing of assistance). Moldova fulfilled 10 conditions for receiving the first tranche, however two conditions were interpreted wrongly due to efforts of some extraparliamentary parties", he said.

The premier said that it is about the functioning of the National Integrity Authority and the ensuring of its financing.

"The conditions said about the need of progress in this field. We maintain that if the contest on selecting inspectors was launched, the process is already irreversible. We fulfilled the condition on ensuring the agency financing, as the Government has the possibility to redirect funds through internal channels without amendments to budget", he said.

Filip said that it does not matter when exactly Moldova will become member of the European Union, as it is more important to ensure the state development in accordance with European principles.

He also promised that by the end of his mandate, the Moldova's European course will become irreversible.
