MOLDOVAN BANKING SYSTEM RECEIPTS EXCEEDED PAYMENTS

The monetary revenues to the Moldovan banking system accounted for 24.79 billion lei (US$1,502 million) in January-March, which is 1.3% more than over the equivalent period of 2017.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), most revenues came from trade earnings from selling goods no matter the channels of their conducting - 14,071 billion lei, where the biggest growth was registered - 4.8%. The rest of revenues grew 4.7%, up to 5,172 million, while from taxes and fees - only 1.1% - to 665 million lei.

Other types of revenues registered decline. In particular, revenues from enterprises, which are engaged in providing of transportation services, the growth is of 15.4% - to 275 million lei; from rent payments and communal services - 13% - to 1,651 million; from selling foreign currency to physical persons - 9.3% - to 1,187 million lei.

The payment of monetary funds from the banking system was 24,198 million lei (US$1,466 million), exceeding the 1Q2017 rates by 2.6%. The payments for buying foreign currency accounted for 7,881 billion lei (-6.2%); for salaries, stipends, social payments, pensions and insurance compensations - 2,994 million (+4%); from current and deposit accounts of physical persons (net) - 2,914 million (+2.2%); for buying of agricultural products - 654 million (+7.2%); for other goals - 9,755 million lei (+10.2%).
