U.S. TO PROVIDE TO MOLDOVA FUNDS FOR CONTRIBUTING TO EFFICIENT AND DEMOCRATIC GOVERNANCE

Moldova will receive US$3.5 million from the United States for contributing to efficient and democratic governance. The Government approved on Wednesday the signing of an Amendment to a corresponding agreement between the two countries' Governments.

According to the document, the US will provide technical assistance worth US$3.5 million. Before, the American Government has already provided to Moldova US$16 million within this agreement, while in general, the agreement implies the providing of US$36.1 million.

The funds will be directed to the implementation of projects for children protection (program "My Childhood" - US$2 million) and the development of media independence (US$1.5 million).

The funds will be transferred to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, as well as to independent specialists in the field of media, who are working in producing of films and TV programs at the local and international level.

The signing of an additional document implies no expenditures from the side of Moldova. The document is planned to be signed in Chisinau in May.
