PREMIER MAINTAINS METHODOLOGY OF FUEL PRICE CALCULATION SHOULD BE TRANSPARENT AND CLEAR FOR CITIZENS

06 june, 2018

At the Tuesday's Government sitting, Prime Minister Pavel Filip thanked the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) for canceling at his demand the regulator's own earlier decision on fuel price raising.

"We do not try to jump over the institutions' powers, but in the society there should be no suspicions or vagueness. The goal of my intervention should not have a short-term effect. We have to bring clearness and transparency in the formation of tariffs on fuel and energy", Pavel Filip said.

He proposed to Moldovan agencies to conduct an analysis and, if necessary, to make amendments to legislative norms concerning the procedure of price formation.

Pavel Filip condemned the actions of a police officer, who fined a motorist because there was a sticker against the fuel price raising on his car windshield. Last Saturday, hundreds of motorists came to a protest march on their cars with such stickers.

"We can talk much about police reforming and the Ministry of the Interior efforts. We have put titanic efforts for this. As a result, a single policeman compromised the entire Ministry", the Premier concluded.

At the same time, Liberal Party MP Alina Zotea wrote in social networks that she directed official requests to the Minister of the Interior Alexandru Jizdan and Prosecutor General Eduard Harunjen, demanding to punish the police officers. Last Saturday, they fined a motorist because there was a sticker "I am against fuel price raising" on his rear windshield. The police officers equaled the sticker to unsanctioned distribution of advertisement.
