​EBRD TO SUPPORT MOLDOVA IN SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Moldovan Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Tudor Ulianovschi met with European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Director Suma Chackrabarti in London, who said that the EBRD will continue providing support to Moldova in the field of implementing reforms for sustainable economic development.

According to the Moldovan Ministry, he explained that the EBRD strategy’s priority directions for Moldova in 2017-2020 concern the support to banking sector restructuring, private enterprises, raising of energy security and infrastructure improvement.

According to the message, the bank has highly appreciated the measures, adopted by the Moldovan authorities for ensuring stability in the banking sector, business environment improvement, which in the end raises the republic’s attractiveness for investors.

Tudor Ulianovschi said that the EBRD is one of Moldova’s basic development partners and expressed interest in extending the cooperation, including by means of initiating new investment projects.

“The Government counts on EBRD’s further participation in various projects in Moldova, both the implemented and the new”, he said.

In 2017, the EBRD launched in Moldova 10 projects with record volume of investments worth 131 million euros, while the total volume of investments accounts for 1.1 billion euros by means of over 120 projects.
