FINANCE MINISTER PRESENTS CONCEPT OF FISCAL REFORM TO IMF

26 july, 2018

The concept of financial reform, proposed by the ruling Democratic Party, was presented to the leadership of the International Monetary Fund in Washington.

According to an informed source, Finance Minister Octavian Armasu went to the US for this purpose.

“The minister was empowered to present in detail the concept of tax remissions to the IMF leadership, justifying the feasibility of their introduction and, what is most important – the consequent profit for the social insurance budget from the reform implementing”, he said.

The Infotag interviewee said that it is unknown so far how the IMF will react on the proposal, for example on the lowering of employers’ deductions to the National Social Insurance Fund to 18% from 23%.

“The flywheel of the so suddenly proposed tax reform has already been launched. The authorities will be implementing tax remissions in practice, even if external partners, such as the IMF or the World Bank will have observations or arguments”, supposed the agency interviewee.

He supposes that external partners for sure have comments on the hurry of tax reform implementation.

“The authorities not just could have, but should have put the reform for wide public discussion with both business circles and the society, as the tax remissions concern the interests of not only the employers, but also workers”, he said, adding that hurry in such issues is not the best help.
