STATISTICIANS CORRECT DATA ON 2017 INVESTMENTS IN LONG-TERM TANGIBLE ASSETS

Investments in long-term tangible assets accounted for over 23,498 million lei (US$1,398 million) in 2017, which is 3.5% more than a year before.

These are the updated figures of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), which are 2,852 million lei more than in the February report. Back then, the document said that the investments grew 1% – to 20,646 million lei (US$1,214 million).

According to the NBS, over one-third of all investments – 7,521 million (+5.2%) accounted for equipment, transport and means of communication. The investments in constructing of all types of buildings (except residential constructions) on contrary fell 5.1% – to 4,873 million lei.

Almost two-thirds of investments were conducted by the private sector from its own funds – 15,356 million (-1.2%). Investments from abroad are the second –1,489 (-7%). Budget allocations ranked the third – 1,458 million (+46%).

In terms of branches, most investments were made in public administration and defense – 15.8% of the total volume. Then come processing industry – 13.3%, trade – 11.3%, agriculture – 9.8%.

Infotag’s dossier: The National Bureau of Statistics is for the third consecutive year publishing two reports on previous-year investments per year. Usually, the figures in the first report (in February) are much lower than those, published half-a-year later.
