REVENUES FROM PRIVATIZATION IN MOLDOVA ACCOUNTED FOR US$1.9 MILLION IN 1H2018

24 september, 2018

The denationalization of public property in the first half year brought to the Moldovan budget just 32.82 million lei, which is almost four-fold less than over the equivalent period of 2017.

According to the Public Property Agency (PPA), almost all the revenues were received from selling of the Technical center for industrial safety and certification in a single property complex. Only the privatization of the immoveable property complex in the village of Cornesti (Ungheni raion) and the reservoir in Chisinau slightly replenished the state treasury.

Besides, over 6 months the PPA signed two agreements of public-private partnership (PPP); feasibility studies for 4 PPP projects have been coordinated; the PPP and concession agreements, registered in the Public Property Register, have been monitored, as well as 10 agreements of purchase/sale of public property objects.

Infotag’s dossier: In 2017, revenues to the Moldovan state budget from privatization accounted for 166.4 million lei (US$9.7 million) – almost 54 million lei less than planned. Over a year, three rounds of privatization have been conducted, within which 73 objects with total starting cost of over 1 billion lei, including for auctions, commercial and investments contests. However, only 16 objects have found their customers, including government packages in 10 joint stock companies, three property complexes and three objects of unfinished construction.
