PARLIAMENT CHAIRMAN SIGNS LAWS ADOPTED BY GOVERNMENT AT HIS PARTY CHIEF’S INITIATIVE

12 march, 2019

Speaker of the Parliament Andrian Candu signed and transmitted to president for promulgation nine laws, adopted by the Government under its own responsibility on March 7.

As Infotag has already reported, the initiative on adopting them came from Chairman of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc in the morning on March 7 and already in the afternoon the Government, headed by DP Deputy Chairman Pavel Filip, voted for the proposed projects, including for the payment of lump-sum allowance worth 600 lei (US$35.3) to the low-income people and for the indexation of pensions by 5.3% starting from April 1.

The government calculated that in case the laws are adopted, around 610 thousand people will receive assistance from the state worth 600 thousand lei on the occasion of Easter holidays.

The initiative of the Democratic Party will cost to the state treasury around 360 million lei that were not provided in the 2019 State Budget. Due to such proposals, hastily adopted by the Government and the Parliament in the run-up to elections, the state budget was executed in January with a deficit of 352.7 million lei against the surplus of 28.7 million lei a year ago.

As Infotag has already reported, according to the Constitution, the Government has the right to undertake responsibility before the Parliament for the program, statements of general political character or draft laws. The Government resigns if most of deputies supported the vote of no confidence, proposed within three days after the draft law was proposed.
