PENSION SIZE GOES UP IN MOLDOVA, THOUGH NUMBER OF PENSIONERS GOES DOWN

The average size of pensions in Moldova accounted for almost 1794 lei (over US$100) as of April 1, growing 85 lei year to date. Meanwhile, the number of beneficiaries, who are receiving this type of social allowance, fell to 699.6 thousand from 703.9 thousand in 1Q2019.

According to the National Social Insurance Fund (CNAS), the absolute majority (524.9 thousand people) are receiving old-age pension (on average 1732 lei), while 124.2 thousand - the disability pensions (1361 lei). The biggest pensions - over 8281 lei - are paid to several categories of civil aviation workers (554 people), while the smallest are the survivors' pensions - 920 lei (11.2 thousand people).

As of the end of April, 62.1 thousand people were beneficiaries from state social allowances. The size of pension varies from 204 lei to persons of pension age - to 701 lei - to the disabled minors.

The allowance for rearing child under the age of 3 for insured persons is 1617 lei, while for uninsured persons - almost three times smaller (640). The latter receive allowance only till the child reaches the age of 1.5-2.

The state is also paying lump-sum child-birth allowance worth 6.3 thousand lei.
