​REVENUES TO BUDGET FROM CUSTOMS SERVICE GREW 9%

The Moldovan Customs Service ensured revenues to the state budget worth 6,577 million lei (US$369.5 million) as of early May, which is 549.6 million (9.1%) more than over the equivalent period of 2018.

According to the Customs Service administration, only in April the revenues to the state treasury from the activity of the agency grew by more than 20%, accounting for 1,983 billion lei.

Over a month, 779 violations of customs legislation were registered. The most frequent concern the extension of the term of stay in the territory of republic for vehicles with foreign license plates, the violation of terms of transit or customs declaration, as well as unscrupulous declaration of consumer goods (clothes and footwear, used cars, tobacco products). As a result, 459 protocols were compiled and fines worth almost 2 million lei were imposed.

In April, the number of Moldovan border crossings by road vehicles exceeded 366 thousand. Most of them were registered at the Moldovan-Romanian border. The most popular customs stations are Leuseni and Sculeni, which were crossed by 75th and 55.5 thousand vehicles, respectively, over a month.
