MOST MOLDOVA CITIZENS NEGATIVE ABOUT CC JUDGMENT CONCERNING ILLEGITIMACY OF PARLIAMENT – POLL

14 june, 2019

Over two-thirds of Moldova citizens are negative about the Constitutional Court judgment on the illegitimacy of the new Moldovan Parliament, as per the findings of the opinion poll on the political crisis in Moldova, carried out by the Date Inteligente company.

Its Director Mihai Bologan said at the poll results presentation on Friday that 64% respondents welcomed the formation of the governing PSRM/ACUM coalition, and 72% voted for continuation of the new Parliament’s work. Over 62% spoke out in support of election of Zinaida Greceanii as Parliament Speaker, and 61% -- for appointment of Maya Sandu as Prime Minister of Moldova.

Interviewed citizens proposed the following “main solution” for overcoming the present crisis: de-blocking of state institutions and vacating them from bosses representing the previous Filip Government – 35%; an early parliamentary election – 22%; negotiations between the parliamentary coalition and the Democratic Party – 24%; expectation of a Venice Commission decision.

In case of early elections, 25.4% respondents would vote for the Party of Socialists, 13.9% -- for Maya Sandu’s Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), 7.2% -- for the Democratic Party; 5.2% -- for the DA Platform; 4% for the Ilan Shor Party; 12.2% would not go to the polls, and 24% were uncertain.

Mihai Bologan stressed that the PAS and DA are indicated separately because there is no certainty that the two ACUM component parties will necessarily stand as one force at the future elections.

The interviewed citizens determined a list of the most favorite politicians as follows: Igor Dodon – 28.2%, Maya Sandu – 15.2%, Pavel Filip – 4.5%, Andrei Nastase – 4.3%, Ilan Shor – 3.8%, Vlad Plahotniuc – 3.3%.

The poll was carried out last two days preceding the presentation, involving 720 persons eligible to vote from 82 various-type populated areas all over the country. The pollsters are saying the error should not be in the excess of ±3.65%.
