MAIB TO PAY UP TO 500 THOUSAND LEI TO EACH CLIENT WHO SUFFERED FROM ROBBERY

The Moldova Agroindbank Board issued an unprecedented decision to compensate up to 500 thousand lei to each client, who suffered from the recent robbery in one of bank offices, despite treaty provisions and the national and regional bank practice.

According to the website of the Moldova’s largest financial institutional, the decision was adopted two days after the robbery in the Chisinau-Buiucani office, when valuables were stolen from individual safe boxes.

The decision was made by the MAIB leadership during the meeting with affected clients, who thanked the bank for openness and operative crisis management.

“This is an unprecedented situation for Moldova and for the bank. Our efforts are directed to resolving of problems of clients who suffered. We want to assure them we will be working round-the-clock to resolve the situation as soon as possible. The MAIB Board and the entire leadership regrets about the incident, However, we are sure that despite anything we will hold on, will become stronger and will be working twice as hardly to meet our clients’ expectations”, stated MAIB Chairman Sergiu Cebotari.

According to him, the paramount priority for bank leadership is the conducting of all the necessary measures in cooperation with the law enforcement for identifying the guilty of the robbery which would allow completely compensating the losses to clients.

For this, the bank is ready to pay a reward worth 1 million lei to potential informants for data, which would allow detaining criminals and returning the stolen property.

The bank assured that besides ensuring additional measures, services on providing individual safe boxes will be reformed in accordance with best bank practices.
