GOOD ROADS PROGRAM WAS APPROVED, BUT WITHOUT PROPER FINANCING – DEPUTY SPEAKER

29 august, 2019

The Government, headed by Democratic Party member Pavel Filip, approved the program “Good Roads for Moldova”, but did not provide the necessary financing in the state budget, wrote Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Alexandru Slusari on his Facebook page on Wednesday.

“The Law on 2019 State Budget, approved by the previous Parliament, implies that a sum of 950 million lei (US$53 million) is allocated for the program of repairing national roads of common use (within localities) and streets. By the way, 270 million of this sum must cover the 2018 arrears”, he wrote.

Slusari pointed that in April, the Filip Government approved the program of road repairing worth 1,725 million lei (US$96 million). In this way, it randomly and unlawfully almost doubled the payments for repairing of roads, having no financial covering and against the Law on Budget.

The Deputy Speaker maintains that the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) must have given the legal assessment to actions of the previous Government, while citizens must understand the economic reality, when someone is trying to politically manipulate their opinion, saying that the new leadership has cut the “Good Roads” program.
