DEFLATION REGISTERED IN MOLDOVA FOR 3RD CONSECUTIVE MONTH
Prices in Moldova keep falling for already the third consecutive month. In August, these shrank by 0.03% on average. According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) the year to date inflation accounted for 4%, while since August 2018 till August 2019 – 5.5%, which fits into the NBM’s target corridor of 5% ± 1.5%.
NBM specialists say that the inflation was primarily due to seasonal decline of food products prices - on average by 0.6%. At the same time, non-food products and services slightly went up in price – by 0.2% and 0.6%, respectively.
Infotag’s dossier: In August 2018, 0.2% deflation was registered in Moldova, while a year earlier the inflation was of 0.9%. For 2019, the National Bank of Moldova forecasted inflation within 5%.
